DocSnap Privacy Policy

DocSnap creates visual step-by-step guides and cursor-replay videos from actions you deliberately capture in your browser.

Data the extension processes

When capture mode is active, DocSnap may process the visible contents of the current webpage, screenshots of the visible tab, the page URL and title, clicked-element text and accessibility attributes, deliberate click coordinates, selector information, timestamps, viewport dimensions, zoom-related measurements, and scroll position. Raw mouse movement is not stored.

Because screenshots can contain sensitive information, pause or stop capture before opening content you do not want included in a guide.

Storage and transmission

Captured screenshots and guide content are stored locally in your browser using IndexedDB. Lightweight capture-session state is stored in Chrome's extension storage. DocSnap does not transmit, sell, share, or upload captured data to the developer or any third party. It has no backend, analytics, advertising, or telemetry service.

Data leaves the extension only when you explicitly export a guide. Exported files are saved through browser-controlled actions and are then under your control.

Video Capture does not record microphone audio, camera video, browser controls, raw mouse movement, or the full desktop. DocSnap builds the video locally from deliberately captured webpage frames and click coordinates.

Permissions

DocSnap uses temporary active-tab and scripting access to start capture after a user action. Optional site access is requested for the current site so capture can continue across same-origin reloads and navigation. Tab access is used for visible-tab screenshots and opening local editor/export pages, and storage access maintains local state.

Retention and deletion

Guide data remains in the local browser profile until you delete a guide, clear the extension's data, or uninstall the extension. Deleting a guide removes its locally stored screenshots and steps.

Remote code

DocSnap does not download or execute remote code. Its JavaScript, styles, icons, and font files are bundled with the extension.
